1947 501 JEANS RIGID
With the end of WWII and an end to the rationing of raw materials the time was ripe for the introduction of a new jean. A slimmer fit and the elimination of details like the cinch back and suspender buttons positioned the 1947 501 to become the jean of a new generation and an American national treasure. This Levi's jean was also the first to display a uniform and standardized arcuate (double arching stitch) via the use of double needle sewing machines.

Levi's introduced Levi’s Vintage Clothing to keep the history of Levi's denim alive. Since 1999, the famous historical originals from the Levi's archives in San Francisco, dating back to 1880, are faithfully reincarnated in this limited edition range. Their inspiration is the hardworking man that the Levi’s Brand has equipped for the last 140 years.
